10 Simple Steps to Look Younger
There’s no doubt about it-looking younger is on the to-do list for many people. These days, a trip to the beauty section of any department store reveals hundreds of products, all of which claim to reverse the aging process. But these products, in addition to being over-hyped, are often very expensive. How do you know you’re not wasting your money? Wouldn’t it be nice if you could take your own steps to achieving a more youthful appearance? Fortunately, you can! Continue reading for ten steps you can take to look younger.
Master Your Makeup
Mastering your makeup doesn’t mean smearing it on in an effort to drastically alter your appearance. It means being subtle enough to trick people into thinking you’re younger than you are. Eyeliner, lipstick, and concealer are great, but learning to contour will bring out your best features. Spots and wrinkles don’t have to be noticeable!
Drink Tea
Drinking tea-either green or white tea, specifically-comes with many health benefits. These teas are made from the leaves and leaf buds of the camellia sinensis plant, which contains a variety of antioxidants. Antioxidants are known to defend the body against free radicals, which are responsible for the breakdown of healthy cells in the body, including skin cells. The presence of antioxidants, however, can not only prevent this breakdown from occurring-they may help new cells form as well.
Stay Hydrated
You’re aware of the importance of staying hydrated-especially on a hot day! You should also be aware of the fact that drinking water increases circulation throughout your body. Improved circulation means rosy, healthy-looking skin.
Eat Wild Salmon
Wild salmon is full of omega-3 fatty acids, which are extremely beneficial for your skin. They can decrease inflammation while helping the skin heal itself. This may prevent acne and other damaging skin conditions.
Sleep Well
This is a no-brainer. If you don’t get enough sleep, you wake up with puffy eyes and dark circles. But that’s not all-poor sleeping habits lead to an increase in cortisol, the stress hormone. Cortisol can wreak havoc on your skin by breaking down collagen, which results in saggy skin that has lost its shape.
Take Care of Your Hair
Having thick, flowing hair is sure to give you a more youthful appearance. Use volumizing shampoos and anti-breakage conditioners to strengthen your hair. Additionally, don’t be afraid to try something new. A new cut or color might do the trick.
Change Your Diet
The healthier your diet, the healthier you are. The healthier you are, the healthier you’ll look! Eating a diet rich in antioxidants and vitamins can work wonders for your entire body, including your skin. Choose foods that will fight inflammation, such as fruits and greens.
Exercise
Exercising regularly will, of course, burn fat. Dropping pounds is always a great way to drop the years off of your appearance. Additionally, exercise gets your blood flowing and improves your circulation-just as drinking water does.
Don’t Tan
You might love the glow of tanned skin, but tanning does your skin much more harm than good. Sun exposure adds years to your skin, and it might even lead to skin cancer. Always wear sunscreen!
Use Exfoliating Moisturizers
Good moisturizers can work wonders for your skin. They can clear away dirt and bacteria while making skin look smooth and soft. They’re often formulated with beneficial ingredients such as green tea extract and vitamins.
As you can see, spending a ton of money on an anti-aging serum isn’t your only option when it comes to looking younger. A lot of the steps mentioned above are cheap (or free!) and can be done regularly from the comfort of your own home. If you stick to them, you’re sure to look and feel younger.
